Welcoming Associate Professor Sera Linardi as the 2024 Siegel PiTech Faculty Impact Fellow

Sera Linardi

2024 PiTech Faculty Impact Fellow

The Siegel Family Endowment Public Interest Technology (PiTech) Initiative at Cornell Tech is pleased to welcome Associate Professor Sera Linardi (University of Pittsburgh) as its 2024 Siegel Faculty Impact Fellow. She is joining the Cornell Tech Community through December 2024.

Sera is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in the University of Pittsburgh, where she founded the Center for Analytical Approaches for Social Innovation (CAASI), an incubator of community-co-created social justice data projects. Sera’s primary focus is creating a sustainable future for Equity and Access in Algorithm, Mechanism and Optimization (EAAMO), whose mission is to integrate the perspectives of underserved groups into the core of algorithmic and computational research. Her research consists of field and lab experiments to understand what it means to “do good.”

“The nature of academic work and identities of researchers who design algorithmic and social systems may isolate them from the people who experience those systems, especially those with backgrounds different from the researchers. Bridging research and practice in this area has the potential to affect the foundation of algorithmic systems which will have ripple effects into equity and access to resources in society”- Sera L.
