Welcoming Nicki Dell as the Inaugural Siegel PiTech Faculty Impact Fellow at Cornell Tech
PiTech Faculty Impact Fellow
The Public Interest Technology (PiTech) Initiative at Cornell Tech is thrilled to welcome Associate Professor Nicki Dell as its inaugural Siegel Faculty Impact Fellow. Nicki will focus on creating a sustainable future for Cornell Tech’s Clinic to End Tech Abuse (CETA), whose mission is to address targeted attacks emanating from technology abuse.
“Everyone should be free to use technology without fear of harm from abusive partners or others,” says Nicki. “Survivors of abuse, stalking, or other mistreatment should have the support they need to keep themselves safe online and on their devices.”
Operating in New York City since 2018, CETA works directly with survivors of intimate partner violence to determine if someone is using technology to harm them and what they can do to stay safe. In parallel, CETA facilitates new research to understand how abusers can misuse technology, advocates for laws and policies that include better protections from technology abuse, and publishes resources for others who work to help survivors.
Nicki is an Associate Professor in the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech. She co-founded CETA in 2018 with Professor Tom Ristenpart in partnership with the New York City Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence. Nicki is excited to build connections between CETA and the PiTech community. icly available in the future.
